RENE FELIX ANTROP-GONZALEZ
Professor and Goizueta Endowed Chair in Education
Dalton State College School of Education

René Antrop-González is Professor and Goizueta Chair in Education at Dalton State College in Dalton, Georgia. His teaching areas are bilingual/second language education. Currently, Antrop-González’ principal research interests revolve around the schooling experiences of African American and [email protected] secondary students in the United States and students of color in Belgium.

His recent works include the forwarding of the school as sanctuary concept and its potential impact on Latino education in alternative high school settings. This concept was theorized by students and teachers at the Dr. Pedro Albizu Campos Alternative High School, located in Chicago, Illinois. Antrop-González is particularly interested in having difficult dialogues around the extent to which secondary rural and urban schools in the United States are addressing racial/ethnic/linguistic in/equities and the ways in which teacher education programs and rural and urban school districts can collaborate to address such issues. He has published numerous writings regarding these issues.
